It’s cool to be inclusive.

About

Different Abilities Advocacy was started by Lauren Burke in 2022. Lauren is a mother of six, with five sons and one daughter. Lauren has four sons diagnosed with ADHD and a son diagnosed with profound non-verbal autism. After Lauren’s youngest sons diagnosis her purpose and career path changed. After over a year of fighting for the appropriate education and services for her own son, she realized how many families that have a child with a disability are facing the same challenges with very little support. Lauren has done over a year of advocacy training through COPAA (Council for Parent Advocates and Attorneys). Lauren is also a registered behavior technician trained in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy. Lauren wants all families to have access to advocacy services if they are facing challenges getting their children the services and educational program they are entitled to under the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). Lauren specializes in helping families who have a child with autism. However, she has experience helping families who have children with many different disabilities. Now practicing in New Jersey (virtually) and Florida. Lauren has recently relocated to Jacksonville, FL.
